Aga Khan Palace, Pune |
If you want to spend your perfect half-day holiday near Pune, here is the place to visit: AGA KHAN PALACE. The palace has beautiful architecture, green gardens, and our proud independence history. I visited this palace because I love the architecture but after visiting, actually I read one of the most beautiful quotes from Kasturba Gandhi that inspired me to explore more and live forever...
"Live as if you were to die tomorrow,
Learn as if you were to live forever."
_ Kasturba Gandhi
These lines are very very amazing I loved it...

About Aga Khan Palace...
Aga khan palace was built in 1892 by Sultan Muhammad Shah Aga Khan III. He built this palace to create jobs for poor people who were affected by the 1890s drought. This huge palace is located within a sprawling campus the palace is also known for its Islamic-style architecture. It is located on 19 acres of land that includes expansive, well-maintained lawns. The main building is built on an area of 7 acres and 5 enormous halls. The palace is a three-storied structure with a floor area of 1756 sq. meters on the ground floor.
Aga Khan IV handed over the property to India in 1969 as a token of respect for Mahatma Gandhi and his ideologies. After that, the palace was turned into a museum and was made the headquarters of the Gandhi National Memorial Society.
This palace is a national monument of India’s freedom movement. Following the launch of the ‘Quit India’ movement in 1942, Gandhi Ji, his wife Kasturba, and secretary Mahadev Desai were kept at this palace from August 1942 to May 1944. Mahadev Bhai and Kasturba passed away while in captivity at the Agakhan Palace and their ‘Samadhis’ (Memorial) are located on the palace campus.
When I walked around the palace it felt like walking into our great Indian History book with scenes from Gandhi's life memorialized in the rooms with his objects and books kept there. The palace rooms also contain a number of old black and white portraits with lots of archives of documents and walls of palaces filled with dealing with the struggle of the freedom fighters during the British Raj.
